I am treated by some (hey! elders and their wives, COINCIDENTALLY hahaha) as if I am disfellowshipped, but I just dropped out. If I were you, I would tell wifey to join me staying at home, or deal with the fallout of me not being there. Not being mean, but just making a stand.

Shunned at the hall for not sticking to the program
by truthseeker inour congregation likes bums on seats.. one sister recently said, "if you're not able to be regular for whatever reason, they treat you like you have leprosy.".
this is true in my case - i am an active fader - i haven't been out on service since last summer, i don't attend book studies but.
i am married and have to support my wife lest she get these pity looks from the friends.. elders and their wives ignore me - some even talk to my wife while i'm next to her but ignore me.. it's weird - i think maybe some resent my freedom from the program - the freedom to just turn up or leave half way through the talk.. i don't really deal with it - i don't know what to say.. .

Initially, I was very hurt and disillusioned when the elders rejected me despite the congregation and CO wanting me to become an elder.
In retrospect, it only helped me, because if I spent the money to go to Oz, and all I had to show for it was the agenda for this meeting, I would have been homicidal. -

Do you consider your time as a JW wasted time??
by karter inmany of us have devoted a lot of time and energy to the jw's at the expense of other things like education , planing for retirement , family time just to name a few.. i don't consider it all wasted time there was a lot of good i learnt however i'm doing things now as a jw i never would have.. i don't have the same time pressure and never fell guilty about taking a lot of time out for myself as one elder said to me"if we don't keep you brothers real busy in the work of the kingdom you get swallowed up by the world" .
karter.

I gained things from the experience. I can't lie. But if there
was a way to obtain the good things without going through the drama,
I would have done it differently. -

Could an active JW read this without blinking?
by besty ini'm not a big fan of huge ^c^v (cut and paste) posts but here goes..... i found this when i googled 'jehovahs witness landmark forum' - thats another post why i was doing that... http://www.ex-cult.org/general/identifying-a-cult takes about 3 minutes to read.... my question is 'could a jw read this and not even think 'is that us?''.
identifying a cult
there has been much confusion about cults and how to 'pickem'.

Great post.
If you believe you are in the truth, you can
reason around the definitions.
After you start to find out the lies, it's easy to
see the whole story. -

If you had a Time Machine would you stop yourself being a Witness???
by Witness 007 inwhat if you wen't back in time and stopped your mother from opening the door to the witnesses...and your family never came into the truth!!
what if you risked changing everything else in your life...not having kid's or the same marriage partner...would it be worth it.

At a minimum, I would have used the initial study as
a springboard to an intense spiritual awakening, not
a road to JW baptism and pioneering, and
ministerial servitude. -

Looking for
signs, omens, portents
not demon-inspired, but divine,
Guides to life if they are successfully deciphered
But if these are just random,
and coincidental,
I’m planning a Fool’s Journey
sure enough.
For just as some believe in
Guardian Angels,
Divine Ones individually assigned,
(There are enough to go around, myriads and all)
There could be
Tormenting Demons,
fallen ones,
Princes of Persia and other locales
tasked with inciting and maintaining
our misery. -

Joseph Smith was found to have a Jupiter talisman on his person when he
died.
Even though CTR dabbled in some occult things, he didn't go that far. -

No to beat the Un thing to death, but something stinks here....
by isnrblog ini still can't understand what they would have to gain by being a un ngo.
some say status and others say they could gain monitarily, things to be investigated.
the staus and influence theory does make some sense.

Even if their original, lame-ass reason was true, they were
SECRETIVE about it, and embarrassed when it was revealed, and
some people were reproved and/or disfellowshipped for asking
about it.
That is enough right there.
